Neuschwanstein Castle

Located in Schwangau, perched above a rugged hill in southwest Germany, the castle was designed in the Romanesque Revival style using conventional brick, marble, and white limestone mined from a nearby quarry.

Property History (P):

Known as Germany's fairytale castle, it was built mostly between 1869 and 1884 and Commissioned by shy King Ludwig II of Bavaria as his private retreat and inspired by the operas of Richard Wagner.

Accommodations Options:

There are hotels in the village of Hohenschwangau less than a half mile from the castle - home to Hohenschwangau Castle,  a 19th-century palace which was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria - built and designed by his father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria.

Program Activities:

There are boat tours in the nearby lakes and a cable car nearby with an array of hiking trails as well as a paragliding operation that allows you to fly over the castle itself.

Dining Options:

In the village of Hohenschwangau which is located at the base of the hill on which the castle sits - there are plenty of street vendors selling bratwurst as well as many mid-range restaurants and fine dining places; there are also two restaurants half way up the hill to the castle; and there is a little snack shop outside the castle itself.

Wedding Packages are available only on the outside grounds of Neuschwanstein Castle.

Completed in 1471 and located in the territory of the town of Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet in the department of Indre, in the Centre region, Loire Valley, you need a car to reach the place.

The chateau offers a special one day Garden and Castle Tour of Chateau de Chaumont which includes a 3-course menu in the restaurant La Tour de Chabenet.

The chateau offers a wellness program that includes yoga sessions over 3 days, 3 other sport sessions, a wellness massage, an individual sauna session, and a 3-course menu in the restaurant La Tour de Chabenet.

DINING OPTIONS

There is a 3 day culinary gourmet tour that begins on arrival at the castle.  It includes a Breakfast Buffet, an excursion to nearby Brenne Nature Park, lunch at the Maison de Parc and an introduction to the high quality of the products in the region. The evening is dedicated to France's wine and cheese diversity followed the next day by a visit to the food market at Saint Gauthier.
