Jan's Castle Heritage
A blog dedicated to unearthing stories of my ancestral past, and unravelling the mysteries and magnificence of historic castles.

Every castle has a STORY TO TELL – beginning with the story of its founding families – some going back 26 generations – and others – a more recent tale of new ownership converting castles to modern-day luxury hotels.
But in learning about the ‘historical lifecycle’ of a castle – you are learning about social geography and the socio-cultural impact of events – and how some castle builders and custodians may in fact be your long-lost ancestors.
After years of research, here is a listing of my ancestral connections to both little-known and well-known castles across the European continent. The question is: As you travel abroad, “What are YOUR Castle Links”?
